Ingredients

1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups granulated sugar
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. kosher salt
1 cup buttermilk, room temperature
2 extra-large eggs, at room temperature
2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 tsp. baking soda
1 cup freshly brewed coffee

Let’s Start Baking!

Sieve flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt together in a mixing bowl. Mix until combined.
Take another mixing bowl and pour buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla into it.
Putting the mixer on the low speed, add wet ingredients into the dry ones, and mix them all together. Further, add coffee and keep stirring to combine all these ingredients together.
Using a rubber spatula, scrape all the cake batter into two 8-inch baking pans which have been well-greased and lined up with parchment paper.

Ingredients for Cake

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 large egg
1/2 cup whole milk
1/4 cup oil
2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup warm water, can use coffee

Ingredients for Frosting

1 cup milk chocolate chips
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Let’s Start Baking!

Start by preheating the oven at 350°F.
Meanwhile, line up an 8×8-inch glass or ceramic baking dish with parchment paper. If using a metal baking pan, then heat the oven to 325°F.
Take a bowl and mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a mixer.
Further add egg, milk, oil, and vanilla and mix at low-speed. Add some warm water and gently stir the batter until the batter becomes smooth and thin in its consistency.
Scape out the batter and pour it into the prepared pan. Bake for about 35-40 minutes, or until an inserted toothpick/skewer comes out clean. If the toothpick doesn’t come out clean, then bake the cake for about 10-15 minutes more while keeping a check on your oven.
Let the cake cool down completely for about 10 minutes in the pan and then place it over a wire rack at room temperature.

In a microwave-safe bowl heat some chocolate chips at 50% power in 30-second increments.
